Connect an ArcGIS feature service, an OGC API Features service or a WFS, and read its layers into maps and flows.

Before you begin
The address of a feature service Tamaat can reach over the internet
A service connection is the service's address and, where the service needs one, a sign-in. Its layers can be added to a map, refreshed, and read in a flow with "Database Reader". Services are read, not written to. See Connect to Your Data for where to create a connection.
ArcGIS feature service
Field
What to enter
"Service address"
The address of the service, ending in FeatureServer or MapServer, or of one layer in it (.../FeatureServer/0).
"Sign-in method"
"No sign-in" for a public service, or "API key" with the key in "Key or token".
The service must be able to answer in GeoJSON, which ArcGIS has done since version 10.4.
A large layer is read page by page. A service that cannot page is read only up to the number of features it sends at once, and a layer with more than that is refused with a message.
Group layers are not listed; the layers inside them are.
OGC API Features and WFS
Field
What to enter
"Service address"
The address of the service itself. Leave out the request: https://maps.example.com/geoserver/ows, not the address of a capabilities document.
"Service type"
"OGC API Features" or "WFS".
"Sign-in method"
"No sign-in", "User name and password", or "Access token".
A WFS must be able to send features as GeoJSON. GeoServer, MapServer and QGIS Server do. A WFS that only sends GML cannot be read.
A service that needs a sign-in must be reached over https.
STAC catalog
Field
What to enter
"Service address"
The address of the catalog's API, for example https://stac.example.com/v1.
"Sign-in method"
"No sign-in" for a public catalog, or "Access token".
The list shows the catalog's collections. Choose one, and each of its items, usually one satellite scene, becomes a row with its footprint as the shape.
A row carries the item's properties, such as the date and the cloud cover, and the address of each of its files in a column named asset_ followed by the file's name.
The footprints and their details are read, not the imagery itself. Use the file addresses to find a scene's imagery.
A catalog must offer the items of a collection page by page, as STAC API catalogs do. A static catalog made only of linked files cannot be read.
What to know about reading a service
The service must be on the public internet. A service that only answers inside your network cannot be reached, and a redirect to another address is not followed: enter the final address.
Features are read in longitude and latitude (WGS 84). Tamaat asks the service for that. A service that answers in another coordinate system is refused, not placed wrongly.
A read is not a snapshot. A service is read page by page. Features added or removed while a large layer is being read can be missed or read twice; refresh again if the layer was being edited.
One layer at a time. Choose a layer from the list. A query cannot be written against a service; filter the rows in a flow or in the layer afterwards.
